Texas Independent Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue would like to share a few stories over the next few weeks about our senior dogs.  At the present time we have ten dogs that are ten years of age or older.  In all honesty most of those that are over ten years old and have been here for most of their lives, think this is their permanent home and more than likely it is.  For those that are 11-14 years old, dependent upon their health, they are living their best life here and we are happy to have offered them sanctuary in a loving peaceful world.  We have another 5 that are around 7 or 8 years old AND three of them are looking high and low for their new families.  That would be Bella, Copper and Murphy – none of which are Ridgebacks.  Copper, Bella and Murphy did not know what a Ridgeback was until they arrived at TIRR Rescue.

There are many ways to support a senior pet.  First and foremost, ADOPT one or FOSTER one!  If this does not work in your world, consider just visiting at TIRR Rescue.  We have plenty of seniors that would enjoy a short visit, a walk in the woods, a good brushing (well, maybe not all of them would like this), or just relaxing beside a human that gives them their very own attention.  Of course we must include the financial support of our seniors.  Seniors come with more expenses due to their health, special food/supplement needs, and medications.

Senior dog Bella…

Bella is a mix breed spayed female approximately 7 years old and weighs 75 pounds.

Bella is a Certified Ridgeback Companion.  She is a dog, an all-American dog of non-descript origin.  The kind of dog you would expect to find beside a young boy in a Norman Rockwell painting.  If you want a trusting, loyal and affectionate companion, then Bella is the perfect dog.

Animal control shelters can only allow a limited time for dogs in their care and when the dog is surrendered by the owner that time is very limited.  There are a few shelters that TIRR works with to the benefit of many purebred Ridgebacks.  Every now and then a dog that bears no resemblance to a Ridgeback ends up in a shelter that has so won the hearts of the shelter staff that they will go to extreme means to save a dog.  When they call, I cannot forget all the Ridgebacks they have saved by contacting TIRR.  Bella is such a dog.  With not an hour to spare Bella was placed in our care and now only needs your final helping hand to welcome her into a new home and a better life.

Bella is approximately 7 years old with the energy of a much younger dog, eyes that will melt your heart and the experience of knowing exactly what to do to secure your love and attention.  She can be on the bossy side, especially to any of the boys she deems her underling  Precious girl.

If you are interested in meeting Bella or just coming out to take her for a walk in the woods at our facility in Paradise, Texas, please contact Roy Hughes at 817-454-6023 or email to tirrrescue@gmail.com.
