A Word from Dalton

Dalton arrived at TIRR Rescue on 11/19/2022.  Since his arrival we have found a lot about him and what type of home/environment he will need to “do well” and become a great family member

Dalton is a true “old school” Ridgeback.  He is very selective of his friends, dogs and human, distrusts strangers until they prove otherwise and treasures his personal space.  He is highly intelligent, loyal, and devoted to anyone who earns his trust and respect. He will need an owner that understands the breed and has the patience to apply that understanding.

PERSONALITY: Dalton is a true “old school” Ridgeback. He is very selective of his friends, dogs and human, distrusts strangers until they prove otherwise and treasures his personal space. He is highly intelligent, loyal, and devoted to anyone who earns his trust and respect. He will need an owner that understands the breed and has the patience to apply that understanding.  If a stranger or known acquaintance for that matter approaches him wearing a pair of shoes that he is not familiar with he can become extremely intense and insists the shoes and the feet in them be removed from his presence. We are not sure of his reasoning behind this, we can make guesses, but guesses would be all they would be. This is a good example of why we get to know all the dogs we place before we even consider placing them in a home. Dalton is not the dog for everyone, he is the perfect dog for the right person.  If you think you might be that person please complete an application and make an appointment to visit with Dalton at TIRR Rescue.

Name's Special Need

At a young 5 years of age Dalton appears to be in exceptional good health and physical condition.   He is not without his eccentricities, one of which is a to date an unexplained shoe fetish.
