Meet Daisy, 3-year-old spayed female Great Dane, Color Brindle

It seems to have become a tradition here at TIRR Rescue to receive a very special gift somewhere around Christmastime. Sometimes it’s a starved, pregnant little dog, arriving on Christmas Eve, whose outlook for survival is doubtful, much less the delivery of puppies. On another Christmas Eve it was a very old and distressed female Ridgeback whose best hope was to survive to see the dawn of the New Year. This year, 2025, our gift came early, on the day before Thanksgiving. Not our usual Ridgeback, this time it was a purebred Great Dane. Daisy was far from perfect condition as the pictures tell. After a quick visit to the vet and a thorough examination it was determined that there were no underlying health conditions and her appearance was the result of extreme malnutrition. After about 8 weeks of measured, multiple feedings daily with high-quality food (Canidae) the later pictures verify our vet’s diagnosis.

Daisy is a shy and sensitive girl with a very loving nature and mischievous personality. She can also be protective of her home and territory. At a healthy weight of around 120 she can be quite an effective deterrent to intruders. This respectful and obedient house-horse would be a magnificent addition to any fireplace rug or nearby sofa.

Please contact TIRR at www.tirrrescue.org or tirrrescue@gmail.com to get more information on adopting Daisy.
