2026 Senior Dogs Prescription Needs Campaign

As most of our followers know we have taken in dogs through the years that may or may not be placed due to behavioral issues or health issues.  Roy has a heart for helping those that find themselves in a life-or-death position and we know some will not be rehomed. We have been fortunate in a few cases to place such dogs.  However, many have not found a home and have been with us for months and years.  Most of these dogs are seniors and as we all know seniors definitely can have prescription medications that become maintenance medications that they will take until they cross over Rainbow Bridge.   And as we have also found, some require prescription food, which is another maintenance item that comes at a high price.

Can I stop here to just tell a quick story about senior dog’s needs?  We have on our Amazon Wish List the joint supplement Cosequin (this stuff is not cheap).  Most of our dogs need this and based on our donations, we make sure the dogs that need this the most have it however, maybe not the correct dosage, simply due to the cost and availability.   The thought was some is better than none.  Recently we were blessed with what we consider a huge donation of Cosequin, allowing us to ensure each dog needing it would have the optimum dosage.  This was a huge gift to TIRR and every dog that needs it.  We recognize this is a maintenance item that will be ongoing but for the immediate future our hearts are happy to know that people out there know what is needed and bless us with the means to make sure they get it. Cosequin will stay on the Wish List, but I just wanted to show how important such donations help the dogs in our program and help us know we have provided what they need via our donors.

Back to our Senior Dog Prescription needs.  We currently have dogs with the following prescription needs:  Carprofen, Gabapentin, Amantadine, Denamarin, Methocarbamol, Incurin, Pimobendan, Furosemide, Enalapril, Galliprant, Adequan, Forti flora, Hill’s Prescription Liver Care food, Hill’s Prescription Digestive Care food, Hill’s Prescription MultiCare Urinary Care food.  In some cases, we have multiple dogs benefiting from these medications and/or diet care foods, and they are all getting their needs met based on our vet’s recommendation.

Cindy and I know when we take a dog into our program, we are responsible for all their needs, regardless of what they are.  We also know that we are dependent upon assistance from our supporters and donors.  And we more than recognize that we have been blessed many, many, many times over by our followers and supporters.

Donations for our senior meds/prescription foods would be so appreciated.  Their needs are most always long-term so any donations, one-time or recurring, will make a huge difference to us.  Blake, Butterfly, Browni, Sapphire, Buda, Thunder, Leeu and many others would all benefit from your support.
