A Word from Toby

 

Hello! My name is Toby. I have been at TIRR Rescue since 2017.

I came to TIRR Rescue from South Texas.  When I got here, I had an injury to my front, right paw.  The vet ended up having to amputate all but one toe on that paw.  I hardly even notice it now, though I don’t like to talk about it much.

​

I love attention and will give lots of affection once I get to know you. I love to play with large sticks, especially if someone throws them for me.  I am a bit of a fence guarder, meaning that I act real tough when someone I don't know comes too close to my fence or gate.

​

I will need a strong, confident leader who can help me when I get nervous and can handle me when I get too excited while playing and forget how big I am.  I would love to have a yard of my own with lots of trees so I have plenty of sticks to choose from, though going to the park often would be good, too.  If you think you might be my new forever family, be sure to contact my rescue people!

PERSONALITY:

Toby is a good ol' boy and is very affectionate with people he knows.  He can play a little rough and doesn't like people in his face, so he'd do best in a home without small children.  He also has a slight foot fetish, so shoes are best worn when around him!

Toby's Special Need

​

Toby has had all but one toe on his front, right paw amputated.  Thought it doesn't keep him from playing, he will sometimes walk with a slight limp or without using the paw at all.  His paw does not impede his ability to move around or play, though he can be a bit protective of it, so nail trimming will need to be done calmly, carefully, and with lots of treats and praise!
