A Word from Katie

 

Hi. My name is Katie. I came to TIRR Rescue in 2016 from Houston, where I was a street dog.

​

I lived in a couple of foster homes, but I am an excellent escape artist and it was very hard for my foster and rescue people to catch me. I became what they call a "flight risk," so I can no longer be left alone in a yard at all.

​

Because of my time on the streets, I am very distrustful of humans. I don't so much fear them as just simply not trust them. I am ok with kids - their words and actions don't conflict like they do with so many adults.

​

However, I am slowly learning to trust my rescue people. I could use an adopter who has lots of time to spend with me, working to gain my trust and build my confidence. I’m a very sweet girl once I get to know you.

PERSONALITY:

Katie has an outstanding temperament. She is slowly learning to trust adults. She trusts children and gets along well with other dogs. Once she is bonded, it will last a lifetime. Her adopted will need to be someone with experience, as Katie is both an escape artist and a flight risk. However, once she feels safe somewhere, she will be a great companion.
